Canoe Restaurant Wedding on Film & Digital

Smack dab in the middle of downtown Toronto, on the 54th floor of the TD Centre is a restaurant known as Canoe. Canoe is known for its wonderful views of the Toronto skyline, great food, and a beautiful event space. The space is full of large windows which fill it up with so much natural light during the day, and at night the city lights come alive in the darkness. I very much enjoyed photographing Zoe & David’s wedding in this space, there were a lot of creative possibilities. A great space always makes me excited to create cool wedding photos on both 35mm film as well as digital.

Why Canoe was perfect for Zoe & David

Zoe & David’s vision for their wedding day can be summed up in a few words; modern, romantic, intimate, and fun. They were looking for a space which would feel cozy for their smaller guest count, have a great space to dance and have fun in, and felt modern and non-traditional. Canoe ticked all those boxes for them, and I think these two really did a great job in crafting a wedding day which spoke to who they are as a couple.

We started the day off with Zoe & David’s portraits at the TD Centre! We had a beautiful sunny day to work with, which paired really well with the location. The dark buildings and sun really allowed me to create some fun, punchy images. Since I’m always looking for colour in my compositions, I really enjoyed the yellow tables they had setup everywhere for a nice pop of colour to an otherwise almost monochromatic space.
